SaltStack Enterprise provides customers with intelligent orchestration of the software-defined data center

SALT LAKE CITY, Aug. 28, 2017 — SaltStack®, creator of intelligent orchestration for the software-defined data center, today announced SaltStack Enterprise is available to customers of VMware Cloud™ on AWS. Launched today with initial availability in AWS US West (Oregon) region, VMware Cloud on AWS brings together VMware’s enterprise-class Software-Defined Data Center (SDDC) software and elastic, bare-metal infrastructure from Amazon Web Services (AWS) to give organizations consistent operating model and application mobility for private and public cloud. SaltStack® Enterprise enables event-driven automation of infrastructure management and security to customers of VMware Cloud on AWS.

SaltStack Enterprise delivers scalability, security, visibility and usability to enterprise DevOps and IT operations organizations that require powerful orchestration and automation. SaltStack is the first systems management software vendor to deliver event-driven automation for natively integrated configuration management, infrastructure security and compliance, cloud and container control and DevOps orchestration. The result is an intelligent and scalable IT systems automation platform built for modern infrastructure and application requirements.

Alex Peay, SaltStack VP of product, said, “We’ve built a next-generation systems management platform with cutting-edge capabilities and benefits. SaltStack Enterprise is unique in its ability to intelligently automate traditional systems management tasks such as configuration management, cloud control, container orchestration and infrastructure security compliance through autonomous machine orchestration. SaltStack is making modern enterprise infrastructure more secure and efficient than ever before. SaltStack Enterprise leveraging VMware Cloud on AWS brings VMware’s enterprise-class Software-Defined Data Center (SDDC) software to the AWS Cloud, and enables customers to run production applications across VMware vSphere®-based private cloud environments, as well as public and hybrid cloud environments.”

VMware Cloud on AWS technology partners enable customers to deploy the same proven solutions seamlessly in both the public and private cloud. VMware simplifies the deployment and eliminates the need for partners to refactor solutions for VMware Cloud on AWS. If a partner solution works on-premises in a VMware vSphere environment, it will also work in VMware Cloud on AWS. VMware technology partners complement and enhance native VMware Cloud on AWS service and enable customers to realize new capabilities.

“VMware Cloud on AWS provides customers a seamlessly integrated hybrid cloud offering that gives customers the SDDC experience from the leader in private cloud, running on the leading public cloud provider, AWS,” said Mark Lohmeyer, vice president, products, Cloud Platforms Business Unit, VMware. “Solutions such as SaltStack Enterprise enable IT teams to reduce cost, increase efficiency, and create operational consistency across cloud environments. We’re excited to work with partners such as SaltStack to enhance native VMware Cloud on AWS capabilities and empower customers with flexibility and choice in solutions that can drive business value.”
